Hi dave,
Ihave just installed the march version of 1.4.18 of raq cop with some extras all working fine with new gui. upadate to ver 1.4.19 still working fine and new gui still showing.  Go to the other room loginto gui there, first explore tries to stop going to site complaining of invalid certificate but when asked to load anyway shows old gui minus all the addons I installed but shows correct version. Any idea's mate?

Hi dave,
I think the gui problem is down to the IExplorer version, on version 6 the new gui shows up fine.
on the newer version 8 it complains about not a valid certifite and advises not connecting but if you do so it will show the original gui.  The addons was me forgetting my self I had just updated so it was a simple reinstall and all is ok.  Any ideas on this explorer problem would be of great help though, I'll keeping hacking at it, if i find a solution will post it here.

Just tried in IE8 myself, no problem. If you have old gui images, you simply need to clear your browser cache.

Oh, I see one problem already with your update method. 1.4.19 and 1.4.20 were supposed to be installed as a pair and then the normal IPCop 1.4.21 update since the latter does not use a new kernel and came only two days after the 1.4.19/20 update pair. Our gui update did not come along until much later after 1.4.21 and was intended for 1.4.21. First and foremost, the 1.4.19 and 1.4.20 updates needed to be installed as a pair before rebooting, these two need to be from us only because of the kernel update and the fact that the Cobalt needs a special kernel to boot. 1.4.21 was just a perl fix and can use the normal IPCop update. Even so, I came out with a updated version of 1.4.21 months back so that a clean up to date install was possible.

IE8 behaves much more like Webkit and it's father, KHTML with ANY 1.4.x gui including ours which is just a skin whereas you get blank stripes in places. The gui for IPCop 2.0 (currently at 1.9.6svn) does not have this problem.

If I read correctly, you at one point did the gui update but applied to 1.4.18 rather than 1.4.21 of which it was intended?

Speaking of gui mods, when Brian gets time we may have yet one more. The next slated update is 1.4.22/1.4.23 as a pair.

Hi dave,
Let me explain what it is I have been doing, I installed ipcop 14.1.21-2 I then proceeded to install the following addons

Zerina
adv-proxy
adv-url filter
BlockOut Traffic
& copfilter.

Once these were installed rhe machine would no longer got to gui page, so in a mad moment i decided to download all your images and wmdk and have slowly been building each image with those addons and tested I could still access the gui.  The gui page is ther present and correct on my main machine, but any satalite machine I use , IExplore advise I dont open page because of bad certificate and when you carry on displays old page, i'm not too bothered about it just curios, you know what it's like when your bored.

You will get the certficate warning with any recent browser (FF, Opera, ...).

It basically says that the certificate is self-signed and hence not 'officially' authorized by one of those accredited certification companies.

To avoid the warning you'd need to buy a certificate from a company like verisign.

In most browsers, it lets you store the exception anyway. Minor inconvenience. At least the browsers DO check for it which is actually a good thing.

I see you've been insanely busy lately weizen_42.
