And last not jet a big problem is the LCD night rider style!

See LCD.PNG

I tried 2 difrent Raq3I with HDD and CF/IDE setup
Both Raqs have 2.10.3-ext3!
I also treid it on a 4I with 1 NIC also nothing, accept the LCD night rider style on startup (Rom 2.10.3 from the Raq550 Install cd)

Every time i tried a new machine i perform a new install on HDD/CF.
Big chance am doing somthing wrong so i hoop dave or sombody can point out what!

Which version of Raqcop are you trying to use? Also what method did you use to install it? Pre-made image or using VMware and the iso?

To log in via serial it has to be a nullmodem cable which differs from a standard serial cable.

When you say auto dhcp, you are speaking of the red interface? On green, it can only act as a dhcp server or not.

The fact that you are booting up at least means you mostly got it right so far.

First of all 2 Thumbs up for you Dave on all the Raqcop work!

For de HDD Setup's i used Winimage with a 10 and 20Gb raqcop-1.4.21-2-XXGb.vmdk
And for my CF both 1.4.21-original and raq4-1.4.21-2-2gbflash.img.gz
All the same problems (I missed a step)

-Incorrect login in console window/cli (treu Null-modem)
-No connection at all on NIC I or II (still working on a good 3th NIC PCI)

Little correction on the chipset!
1 Intel and 1 AMD Raq3I
Only now i am modding the AMD and trying to work on the Intel!

Thanks..

I'm a bit confused on the chipset declaration as all 3000 series (Qube3, Raq3'4) use an Ali Aladdin V chipset with a Socket 7 CPU. Where the Qube 3 differs is that it uses National Semiconductor nics rather than Intel. The flash chip itself can be AMD or Intel amongst others. If you succesfully flashed an Intel rom you should be ok.

Incorrect login? You should be able to login as root with the password "raqcop" and should change that immediately as well as your networking to match your desired subnets. Red and Green cannot be on the same subnet. In fact once you get into setup you really should change all three passwords, root, admin, and backup.

Oke my mistake on the chipset i thought it was important!
All my Raq's are 3000.

Here's a little paste from my console with username: raqcop WW: password
And no connection to GUI/https/SSH on green interface!

Also i got a lot of these lines in my console:

This means your networking is not working. You have to log in as user: root, not raqcop, that is the as shipped password for root. Also the nic with one dot next to it is eth0 and that one has to be connected to your lan.

Yes you can change any interface using setup except green. You can change green by hand editing but that will not stick if you ever run setup networking from the serial console. Do not use ssh to hand edit green. Choosing nics will be far better in IPCop 2.

As far as the LCD, it should be set at eth0 by default. First get your red set up the way you want it, then edit /sbin/lcd to point to that device if that is the one you monitor and while there, set your up and down speeds to what your line is capable of. In the downloads section I have a lot of documentation on this. After editing, make sure /sbin/lcd is still executable. Read bandwidth meter tweaking in downloads.

Is this your first exposure to IPCop in general or have you used it on a regular PC before?

Yes first hands on a firewall like this!
Normaly i use Tomato, Cisco & Zyxell hardware for building a network!
Only sinds a few months i got my first hands on a raq! (now 6 2x4 / 2x3I / 2x3)
And like building somthing with these guy's! Next on my list is Asterisk if it's posible?

Only i have a problem with my Red interface i can't find it?
If i look under sysinfo i see also my other nic i just put in!

Network interface cards:
00:10.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 8255xER/82551IT Fast Ethernet Controller (rev 09)
00:12.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 8255xER/82551IT Fast Ethernet Controller (rev 09)
00:14.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co.  Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10)

I want to connect my red to my Static IP Modem only i can't find where to change the settings? Huh

You won't find it in the web gui. As root in the console you have to run setup. I do recommend looking at the Docs on http://ipcop.org as the focus here is getting the thing installed on a Cobalt and anything that is different than a PC install of IPCop that needs attention such as LCD. Your LCD should not be sweeping after the rom kernel hands off to the Raqcop kernel. Which version of Raqcop are you using right now?

It's a sizable leap to use a Cobalt and Raqcop to learn IPCop. Raqcop is an adaptation of IPCop to run on 3000 and 5000 series Cobalts. Installing it is by far the biggest difference between this and a PC IPCop installation.

The other touches I added was to make it run clean on a headless device where ssh and serial are the only two possible terminals, integrating System Information which is an addon for IPCop 1.4.x but integrated into IPCop 2.0 and for flash installs, I use TMPFS rather than RD because it is superior in that it requires no formatting, can be resized and remounted on the fly with no data loss and also can be mounted as a percentage of total ram rather than a fixed value, the lack of needing to format it to EXT2 also allows all the space to be used without FS overhead. TMPFS will be used on IPCop 2.0 where /tmp is mounted using TMPFS on ALL installs and on flash installs, similar to what we already know on flash specific builds. Brian did the GUI rework out of disdain for the Lavender Tab theme. Blue is for Cobalt!

Slight oversight from last April. I made a -3 version of Raqcop 1.4.21-3 and never uploaded the vmdk image as well as the note not being readable from the site. Making a 20GB image now. The main difference is that it is possible to run on an XTR (I believe the XTR should be used as a file server but some have requested to run Raqcop on them) and all versions of -3 have our gui. I'll make a batch of flash images as well even though -2 already had our gui at least in the flash images. All -2 versions will run fine on 3000 series hardware and the 550 of the two 5000 series.

Hello Dave!

Am still struggling on getting my Raqcop up and running!
Now running 1.4.21-3 CF256Mb

After reading ipcop.org manual 2 time's i got started in configuring my interfaces!

And i know i little on subnetting and ip! but i cant get my DHCP Server to work?
This results to no reaction on Green intreface also when i try static IP settings.
Only when i connect thru SSH or console i can ping everything local and www?

Now i dont know if it's related?
Under Status - Connections
I get a Error screen See Connections-cgi.png
And under Traffic Graphs No information available. for red and green!

And is there a possibility for 3G thru USB?
I search some forums for 3G only i can't find much info.

Kind regards and many thanks for all the help.

I see exactly what is going on. You are booting the rom kernel not the os kernel. I can see it in your coptime avatar and you are the only one on coptime showing a rom kernel. I'm amazed that it works as well as it does to be honest. Make sure your boot mode is set to boot from disk in the rom. Right now it is set to boot from the rom kernel.

I have never seen a Cobalt rom kernel on Coptime before now. Wow!

Im almost pulling my hear out of my head right now.
Here's a paste from my Console:

Cobalt:Boot Menu> read_boot_dev
hda4

Cobalt:Boot Menu> read_root_dev
hda4

Cobalt:Boot Menu> read_boot_type
From disk

And when i dubbel check thru holding the System button and also reconfigure it to disk & hda4
I stil got the same problem!

Here's somthing i found @ start up in my console window.

flushing ide devices: hda
BOOTLOADER: mapping 22M-32M for ride home
BOOTLOADER: disabling interrupts
BOOTLOADER: flushing cache
BOOTLOADER: Leap of faith!
Back in ramcode: done
Second stage load failed.  Booting ROM kernel...   <<------Can this be the reason

After booting and booting i still got v2.4.25-ROM??
I feel like a noob or is it my Raq?
