I loved working on this project and now I gotta part with it.  I replaced all the fans, the drive has been converted to flash based (with the original harddrive still in there), upgraded the RAM, replaced the dual-NIC card, and flashed it to the latest RaqCop versions on a Symantec VelociRaptor 1100 chassis.  Was a really fun one to do and since everyone here are enthusiasts I wanted to see if anyone wants it first as it's just been gathering dust in my office corner.  Message me and we can talk it out.  I need to clear some stuff out!  Wink

Knowing that the right tool for the job is paramount, what did you end up using in it's place? A more powerful machine with IPCop on it or a different solution altogether?

I liked it a ton it was just to loud from the HV fans I replaced in it.  I went with a dual core shuttlePC running PF-Sense currently that I modified to run full flashdisk based.  Was on IPCop but i do love to tinker.  Wink

On a different note I'm somewhat shocked noone even messaged me for it.  I guess I'll go ahead and drop it on Ebay.

I'll still stop in here from time to time though.  Just in case I didn't end up putting it on eBay.  Smiley

These devices don't need much fan at all. Sunon once again makes the  equivalent of the original which is a few thousand rpm slower then the nearest fan we had to put up with meanwhile. I'd really like to find ceramic bearing fans for these.

You never mentioned how much you wanted for it.

True and I thought so to but when I started fiddling with it I really had a ton of problems with heat early on until I changed out the old broken fans for new ones.  Now it runs like a champ.

You know I have a little cash put into it but I wanna be fair about it as far as price.  I'd like to get at least out of it what I put into it (just under 300bux).  What do you think Dave since you live by this a lot more than I.

That's pretty high. If you could get someone to pay it you'd be very lucky. Someone actually gave me an 1100 for free because they blew the rom.

And to be honest with you I completely agree.  I'd "like" to get outta it what I put in but I'm self-aware enough to  know the whole isn't worth as much.  Kinda like a car is worth more in pieces concept.

That said I'd would entertain any reasonable offer really.  I'm not that attached to it and the fun for me came outta the working on it.  Time well spent IMHO.
