I'm the same Dave who patches and compiles raqcop.

Hi all! I'm running a cvs build of Raqcop 1.4.23 on a Raq4 on a microSD using the Addonics adapter. Since these devices are NOT ide natively like CF cards are, the ide to SD/MMC adapter makes the difference. For whatever reason, no cobalt I have will boot using the Syba SD/MMC adapter yet a standard cheap old PC with IPCop flashed to an SD drive will boot using Grub. A MicroSD with the SD sleeve does run Raqcop just fine using the Addonics adapter on the 3000 series but not the 550.

The 550 has a unique rom and is different from ALL other Cobalt units including the XTR. It uses a 2MB rom with a different layout. With the Syba unit, the 550 kernel panicked just like the 3000 series did. With the Addonics adapter, it tries but cannot get past the stage I (rom) kernel and locks up.

Just a heads up to let you know that you can run your Raq3/4 and Qube 3 on a microSD using only the Addonics adapter, not the Syba although a firmware upgrade in the Syba unit if ever available could change this. Neither are direct insert, they both need an ide ribbon.

It actually runs quite good and you really can't see much if any difference in boot speed.
